Make your plans now to come see a workshop performance of our original musical “My Backyard”! I wrote all of the songs, and the book is by award-winning playwright and director Bryan Halperin. There are 7 wonderful actors in the cast. I am the musical director (not performing in it).
“My Backyard" is a fictional drama about a young musician who reflects on the ups and downs of her musical career. In doing so, she explores her relationships with friends and family as well as the inspiration for her music - her backyard. We follow this performer as she struggles to appreciate all the painful, mundane, funny, and beautiful aspects that make up everyday life.
Filled with 16 heartwarming songs that run the gamut from jazzy swing to poignant tender ballads, My Backyard reminds us that when life doesn't go our way, we must find our way back to a place and a time when it all made sense and start again!
If you’ve never been to a staged reading, you will see the actors performing their roles, speaking their lines and singing their songs, but without choreography or scenery. You will also have a chance to give us your feedback after the show!
