My mother had big brown eyes that could smile or pierce me right to the core

And every year her hair was a different color and style than before.

She was very bright, she did the crossword every night,

and now so do I, at least I try.

My mother had graceful hands on piano, I would watch her each day.

And as I got older we would switch seats and she’d listen to me play.

and the music I love now, is all because she taught me how,

and although she’s gone, she lives on

She is the voice that still speaks to me inside

She is the voice that I follow as my guide

She is the voice that still tells me I’m beautiful

She is the voice.

My mother enjoyed the change of the seasons, especially the fall,

We’d go to lunch and then we’d go shopping down at the South Shore Mall,

She’d buy things for the family, and for the grand kids she loved to see,

Now I shop alone, and the kids are all grown.

My mother and I would talk every day and have coffee cake and tea.

She always loved to hear all the stories of things that happened to me.

Sometimes we laughed until we cried, sometimes I just sat by her side,

and although she’s gone, she lives on

She is the voice that still speaks to me inside

She is the voice that I follow as my guide

She is the voice that still tells me I’m beautiful

She is the voice.

She is the voice that lives on.

Lyrics

Oh I’m just walking along on a sunny afternoon,

Feel the breeze blowing through my hair and I’m humming a happy tune,

floating like a red balloon.

I wanna know why,  you always make me feel so high.

Like I’m sitting on a cloud sailing by,

holding you alone up in the sky.   You make me feel so high.

And I, know you so well.  And I laugh at the things you do.

From the look in my eyes you can tell, how I really feel for you.

I feel so high when I’m with you.

Oh I’m just tapping my feet, sittin’ under an apple tree.

Breathe the air and it smells so sweet, watch the robins flying free,

While I’m dreaming of you and me.

I wanna know why,  you always make me feel so high.

Like I’m sitting on a cloud sailing by,

holding you alone up in the sky.   You make me feel so high.

And you, know me so well.  And you laugh at the things I do.

From the look in your eyes I can tell.  You’re feeling high and happy too.

I feel so high when I’m with you.

solo

I wanna know why,  you always make me feel so high.

Like I’m sitting on a cloud sailing by,

holding you alone up in the sky.

I wanna know why,  you always make me feel, so high.

I wake up to an empty pillow,

fill your coffee cup with my tea,

take a walk to the weeping willow,

where you would sit and talk with me.

Now it’s just another day without you, and all I do is think about you.

Ev’rything is grey without you.  It’s just another day alone.

Alone the days always seem much colder,

I wear your coat and it feels like you.

I thought you’d be here when we got older,

there’s so much we were gonna do.

But now it’s just another day without you. All I do is think about you

Ev’rything is grey without you. It’s just another day alone.

I know some day we’ll be together,

and I’ll hold onto that dream forever,

It might take years, and a million tears,

but I’ll meet you on the other side, whoa oh,

But now it’s just another day without you, and all I ever do, is think about you

Ev’rything is grey without you.  It’s just another day,

just another day, it’s just another day alone.

Lyrics

I like the way, the way you hold my face when you kiss me.

But I don’t like the way, I’m always wonderin’ if you miss me.

‘Cause you never say-ay-ay , you want to stay with me forever,

But you told me today-ay-ay, you feel the best when we’re together.

Oh-oh-oh-oh, You make me crazy ‘cause you’re still not mine,

Oh I love you baby and it’s getting stronger.

You make me crazy ‘cause you need more time,

Oh I love you babe but I can’t wait much longer.

You make me crazy so make up your mind,

‘Cause if you don’t want this love baby, I’m not the crazy one.

Oh if you don’t want this love baby, I’m not the crazy one.

I like the way, you lie beside me on the floor.

We could spend all day, talking about what life is for.

You always say-ay-ay, we should both follow our dreams,

So why don’t you stay-ay-ay, so we can find out what that means.

Lyrics

In, the, purple part of the sky,

There’s, a, wonderful place up high.

That’s where I go when I’m dreaming that I can fly.

In, the, garden where flowers grow,

I-ris, and african violets glow.

I smell the lilacs whenever the breezes blow.

Pur-ple, lav-en-der,

Indi-go, fu-chsia.

In, the, purple part of my mind,

There’s, a, magical place I find.

That’s where I go when I want to know you are mine.

Lyrics

This is not the way I thought my life would be someday,

I had everything planned, I don’t understand how it turned out this way.

I had so much faith, but it’s been chased away by doubt,

Now I’m facing my fear that things can go wrong and not always work out,

I just want to run away, as far as I can go

until I run into the ocean then I’ll dive in and swim

'til I am far away, from all this commotion

then I’ll land upon an island, one where nobody can find me

and the sun will shine, and I’ll stare into the sky

while I just lie there on the sand until I make a new life plan.

I remember life when it was not turned upside down,

I can hardly believe I’m watching my world just come crashing down.

So I sit alone and wonder what I should do now,

I feel so bad inside, I want to move on but I don’t know how.

Deep down inside, I want to believe again,

I need to feel, like the old me again, but right now

I just want to run away, as far as I can go

until I run into the ocean then I’ll dive in and swim

'til I am far away, from all this commotion

then I’ll land upon an island, one where nobody can find me

and the sun will shine, and I’ll stare into the sky

while I just lie there on the sand until I make a new life plan.

Lyrics

People strive to find perfection

in a blind imperfect world.

People dive with apprehension

for that oyster with the pearl.

Some may try the path that’s winding

to find where their fortune lies,

Others find their fortune, in their lover’s eyes.

Verse: Rivers flow in all directions

into cold and crystal seas.

People go with good intentions

seeking gold in muddy streams.

Wise men choose the truth to guide them

even through love’s darkest days,

but a fool who lies, hurts love in heartless ways.

MOVE ON, MOVE ON,

get on with your life.

MOVE ON, MOVE ON,

love that cruel cuts like a knife.

Some may see a glass half empty,

you perceive that glass half full,

Some reject the love they’re getting

and they push instead of pull,

You can never make them love you

and it’s best to let them go,

that’s the only way, to save your heart and soul.

MOVE ON, MOVE ON,

get on with your life.

MOVE ON, MOVE ON,

love that cruel cuts like a knife.

Lyrics

I was never voted as the best looking

but people always look to see what I’ve got,

I was never great at home cooking

but I know how to keep things hot!

I was never the most popular

but I didn’t walk home alone from school,

‘cause one thing that I had, and everybody knew it,

I’ve always been cool.

As cool as a cucumber out of the fridge,

as cool as the view from the Brooklyn Bridge,

as cool as the sunglasses on your face,

as cool as the walking bass.

I used to sit alone in the summertime sun,

but just like the lifeguard at a swimming pool,

everybody wanted to hang around me ‘cause,

I’ve always been cool.

As cool as a high diver acing a flip,

as cool as a convertible cruising the strip,

as cool as the ocean in the summer,

as cool as a drummer!

The twinkle in my eye couldn’t get much clearer,

the strut in my step says I’m nobody’s fool,

one thing I remember when I look in a mirror,

I’ve always been, since birth I was, can’t help that I’m,

(2 bars) I’ve always been, cool.

Lyrics

Sittin’ at my desk, staring at the computer screen,

Sittin’ at my desk, staring at the computer screen,

My shoulders are stressed and my thoughts are getting lost in a dream.

In my mind I’m seein’, the happy Caribbean,

I’m dancin’ to a steel drum band,

And coconuts are laughing so hard they’re falling off the trees

and rolling in the sand, ‘cause

I’m going on vacation, and I may never come back.

A tropical education, to teach my mind to relax.

Yea I’m going on vacation, and I may never come back.

A: At home I’m looking out my window, tryin’ to find a glimpse of the sun,

At home I’m looking out my window, tryin’ to find a glimpse of the sun, The phone’s already ringing and my day’s just nearly begun.

Aruba and Bermuda, are there on my computer,

and I can smell the ocean air.

Shiny waves are playing, while palm trees are swaying,

and I just lean back in my chair, ‘cause

I’m going on vacation, and I may never come back.

A tropical education, to teach my mind to relax.

Yea I’m going on vacation, and I may never come back.

Lyrics

Oh what a day, what can I say,

Oh what a perfectly blue sky wonderful sunny day!

Let’s celebrate, everything’s great,

I’m feeling hi-dee hi-dee bee-bop, skin-a-ma-rink-a-doo-wop,

Super duper snappy tappy fabulicious slappy happy.

I have never felt so good, never even knew I could,

This, is what it’s about, I just wanna shout,

and it’s making me absolutely crazy, I wanna pick a daisy,

and sing and scat like doo-bee-dootin doo-bee-doo-doo!

(piano solo, flute solo)

Oh what a day, what can I say,

Oh what a perfectly blue sky wonderful sunny day!

I wanna dance, down the street,

I wanna laugh and smile at everyone I meet,

‘Cause I’m feeling good, scoobe-da-doop-ee-da-doo

and I sure hope you and you, and you and you, and you and you,

and you and you, and you and you, are feeling it too!

There’s a kind of music that always make me move.

Snap on the two and four and start to groove.

It’s the music that I sing, when I’m celebratin’ swing.

A syncopated rhythm that makes me tap my feet.

I wanna kick my legs and jump up to the beat.

It’s the music that i sing, when I’m celebratin’ swing.

Listen to the hi-hat, feel that drive.

Makes any melody come alive.

Hold your partner, spin around

Can’t feel my feet even touch the ground.

It’s the music that i sing, when I’m celebratin’ swing.

Makes me, jump out of bed,

I wake up bobbing my head,

Just tap my shoes on the floor,

Then strut myself out the door.

To the music that I sing, when I’m celebratin’ swing.

Lyrics

Oh the people of New York, have their very own way to “tuak”,

And there are two very different sounds, for short letter o!  (sp:) Let me explain.

When I learned my vowels back in school, the letter “o” had no special rule,

We pronounced the short o words a lot, like dog and dot and log and hot,

They were all the same,  then one day it came,

In a New York deli when I heard a voice exclaim!

“Haht duag”, I would like a “haht duag”,       (sp:) hot and dog,

and it occurred to me both words had the same short “o”,

But he pronounced it “haht duag”, why wasn’t it “huat dahg”?

This must be a rule that only the New Yorkers know!

Oh the people of New York, have their very own way to “tuak”,

and there are two very different sounds, for short letter o, that only they know,

It could be “haht duag”, “huat dahg”, which way does it go?

Or is it “haht dahg”, “huat duag”, how do they know?

Just when I think I’m “ahn”, I’m “uaff” the Big Apple lingo!

Then one day I’m sitting on the beach, trying to learn this New York speech,

I looked up and heard a lady shout, her husband answered her calling out.

They must be from New York,  I love the way they “tuak”,

And then she grabbed his hand and said “come on you handsome jock!”

“Vahleybual”, let’s go play “vahleybual”, (sp:) volley and ball,

And there it was again that same short letter o,

But she pronounced it “vahleybual”, why wasn’t it “vualeybahl”?

This has to be a rule that only the New Yorkers know!

Oh the people of New York, have their very own way to “tuak”,

and there are two very different sounds, for short letter o, that only they know,

It could be “vahleybual”, “vualeybahl”, which way does it go?

Or is it “vahleybahl”, “vualeybual”, how do they know?

Just when I think I’m “ahn”, I’m “uaff” the Big Apple lingo!

Come to my “cahndo” for “cuaffee”, you don’t have to “knuack”

We could do “Bruadway”, go “shahpping” or take a long “wualk”

And finally learn to “tuak” . . . . . . . . . . .    like I’m from New York!

Lyrics

Sometimes I feel like everything is gone,

I stand here alone and life keeps moving on,

always a new page to turn.

Everything must change, time to rearrange,

all I used to do, but I’m holding on, holding on, holding on to you,

I’ll keep holding on, to you.

You are the one who knows me deep inside,

you stayed so alive while everything else died,

you’re the only one I can depend on.

Everything must change, time to rearrange,

all I used to do, but I’m holding on, holding on, holding on to you,

I’ll keep holding on, to you.

I need you there, to help me see beyond,

hold my hand, ‘cause the road ahead looks so long.

Everything’s changing, but  I

I’ll keep holding on, holding on, holding on to you.

I’ll keep holding on, holding on, oh I’ll keep holding on to you.

Lyrics

If I had only known, there would be you,

I would’ve dreamed more hours, of things we could do.

If I had only known, if I’d had a clue,

I would’ve picked more flowers,  just to bring them to you.

I’d seen so many loves end, and you were just my friend,

then I looked into your eyes and by surprise I realized

that you and I had fallen in love.

If I had only known, I’d have a chance,

I would’ve asked the moonlight, to bring this romance.

If I had only known, we’d have romance,

I would’ve watched my shadow, learning how to dance.

                                    (Instrumental Solos over Verse)

I’d seen so many loves end, and you were just my friend,

then I looked into your eyes and by surprise I realized

that you and I had fallen in love, oh!

If I had only known, I wouldn’t be alone,

I would’ve tried more flavors, to share an ice cream cone.
